Dearest Darkness

"Dearest Darkness" is an ongoing series of large-scale paintings that delve into reimagining photographs. Subtle, yet potent, efficacious paintings, which transcend a photo's limitations into a composite of elements that act as a physical portal into the viewer's space.  

Portals create an escape, or accessibility to spacetime. 

Portal (n.)—a doorway, gate or other entrance, especially a large, imposing one.   

Darkness as a textured organic, raw, richness which extends linear time-- growing, converging and consuming the subjects in the paintings. Time as a transitory state until there is a collision of worlds, a collision of light and dark. The sensitive, intricate interactions between light, dark, and subject tell a story. Dark and light as presence and absence, respectively. The drowning, gentle darkness.
